The iPhone and Mac both have event list views at the daily note level. For the Mac, it's in the right sidebar. For iPhone, it appears above the daily note. I think the right sidebar version as for the Mac would work best.

The iPad already has a default event list view in the right sidebar for the weekly note, so it is probably easiest just to make this an option for the daily note.
