Send Timeblock to Calendar
complete
Eduard Metzger
- Right-click on a task or time block (a task with a time) and "send" it to Reminders or as an event to your Calendars.
- ✅ Some automatic way to create events from time blocks, so that it's easier to see where you are busy when making a new appointment and to show you are busy for others (at the moment you need to jump between Calendar app and NotePlan)
UPDATE (v3.9.10 Beta)
- Timeblocks now sync to the calendar.

This is cool but is there any way to not force all blocks to one calendar? I’d rather be able to individually assign if I want to. Time blocks exist, for instance, in my Work calendar and my Personal calendar.

This is the main feature that keeps me on google calendar and switching between google and Noteplan. (1) I rely on google tasks to time block and enjoy being able to turn on/off the “tasks” calendar. However I much prefer Noteplan’s other task related capabilities! With multi-day timeline I’m so close to leaving google calendar and being local only. (2) Right now I also use Dato (a better version of outlook my day) which is a menubar app showing my current/next event with quick access to calendar. If Noteplan tasks belong to their own calendar then this would sync up automatically :)

Yes, this would be amazing. I originally thought it would be automatic as well. I have been reimagining my workflow and trying to make it more visible and frictionless. If I'm working on something, I'd love to hit the shortcut that drops down Fantastical's mini window and see all my time blocks for the day alongside events, without having to switch back to NP to see it all.

I just realized most of the comments here are two years old! Seems like a popular request. Is this feature (like Agenda does, as mentioned below) potentially being considered? Given the focus on time-blocking in the app itself, it seems like a no-brainer to integrate the calendar OUTSIDE of the app.

Really hope for a seamless integration between NotePlan and Reminders because I heavily rely on Apple's Reminder app! I absolutely love the feature of dragging a reminder into the calendar. My idea is to use NotePlan as a note-taking tool for immersive planning of daily, weekly, and monthly tasks, and then have these tasks automatically synced to Reminders for the day using a plugin or designated symbols. After that, I can use my calendar app to drag these reminders into time blocks. ( or use Noteplan if the dragging function get smoother)
Why I prefer integrating with Reminders rather than NotePlan: For one, Apple's own app functionality is better developed and smoother with each version update, and also applies to integration with other apps, making Reminder a perfect intermediary hub. On the other hand, Reminder allows me to see the completion time of each task, which gives me a clear overview of what I actually accomplished each day when I review it with the calendar app.(or Noteplan)
I hope this makes sense! I'm really excited about this integration and I think it would greatly enhance my productivity. Looking forward to your thoughts on this.

Automatic scheduling

Do you have in your roadmap to implement an automated scheduling (different than time blocking)?
I am currently using an application called Butleroy which can book events on my calendar based on the availability and the input (work calendar, next week/this month, 30min-1 hour) while i am creating the tasks. it has integration to my outlook exchange calendar.
NotePlan is really a promising application. But automatic scheduling at least for me very critical and i believe it may help many users as well.

Create event in Exchange calendar for a time block

When a time block is created it would be useful to create the corresponding event in the Exchange Calendar so that others see the slot as "busy".

Adding a "me too" here, though I use todoist but could easily move my todos to my calendar ( Fastmail ) or the Apple reminders if this couldn't integrate with Todoist.
Going to subscribe to the email list and check this issue often, if I can actually sync my todos then I would love to pay for this, but for now I'll stick with Fantastical + the Notes app which isnt the same :/

The most important feature for me is syncing (Apple) Reminders and (NotePlan) Tasks.
- an Apple Reminder should show up in the Daily note
- a Noteplan Task with a date (and time) in a non-Daily note should automatically be a Reminder on that day (and time)
- a Noteplan Task task in a Daily note (without a date or time) should automatically be a Reminder for the date of the Daily Note. If that Task has a time it should be a Reminder on that time
- If the Reminder is moved (Done, Deleted) it should be reflected on the (Daily) note
Without this I will never know, where to look for a Todo (either a Noteplan Task or an Apple Reminder). I would have to completely switch over to using NotePlan. But then I would need to be able to create NotePlan Tasks especially from within AirMail or Apple Mail on macOS and – more important – iOS/iPadOS
For me it would just be "nice to have" if time blocks created in NotePlan would synchronise with Calendar Events
